Ok everybody. Now that I'm finished with grad school applications, I've decided to give this another go. As some of you know, I attempted to edit Triviahost's question file some while back. Brute force editing, trying to read every line, all the way through. Obviously I missed things (amazingly enough, I'm human after all), and I even added some apparently amusing (though at this point I loathe them) mistakes of my own (John John Paul II, anyone?) The solution I've got this time is a group effort. I have a fairly comprehensive copy of the question file that I can use MS word search in so where's what I propose. Whenever you are in the channel and you see a question that's in ANY way incorrect, memorize, copy, or grab a keyword from the question that will enable me to find it in the file so that I can correct it. Include with your post exactly what you think is wrong about the question and how you think it should be changed. I make no guarantee that I'll make that change, but I'll try to fix the glaring errors.
Let's review: See a wrong answer or a poorly worded question? Copy, memorize, or grab a keyword that will let me reasonably find it within the text file (2800 pages, so the more off the wall the keyword, the better), and post it here. Post what you think is incorrect (whether it's just the answer, or you think the phrasing is confusing, or it's a John question, or one of the many myth and heraldry ones that are still in there). And finally, post what you think would be the most logical change to make. With any luck, even if only a few people contribute to this, it should clean up some of the remaining mistakes in the bot. Start looking!

Great idea and I'll help everyway I can. Do the east and west bots use the same question file? And does .wronging actually do anything?

They didn't use the same file once upon a time, but Chalupa has them using the same one now, so any mistake you spot on East should correspond to the same mistake on West, so either side can post and I should be able to find it. As for wrong, no, it doesn't do anything anymore. Wrong'ing the question isn't worth doing, just use that time to get something by which I'll be able to track it down in the file. That'll serve the same purpose.

death, i believe that question is technically correct (except the "who" part, i guess, it should be a "what"). insects DO breathe through spiracles.
another few wrong ones (john<->pope ones)
What color smoke is seen if a John is not elected?*black
Who wears the fisherman's ring?*john
both aren't exact, as i'm recalling them from memory. i believe john should be "pope" in both.

Ok guys. Trial run of this idea is a success. Fixed Lawtencium to Lawrencium (1 instance of that), fixed all the "John" to "Pope" ones you mentioned assault (2 involving black smoke, 1 involving white smoke). All the fisherman's ring questions were correct so you may have seen an older version of the file there. And as far as spiracles, I went through and changed the word order on 2 or 3 separate instances of that question from "Who" or "What" to "What branch of organisms" or "Insects breathe through this organ..." so I hope that meets with expectations.
Keep 'em coming!
PS-I'll discuss with Chal about sending in these updated files once every few weeks or so to keep the corrections continuously adding in to the database.

Also almost all questions with "Alexander John" in them should naturally be changed to "Alexander Pope"

What is the first name of the writer Ibsen*Hennik
"Dear Abby once polled her female readers...rather have intercourse with the one you love..." It doesn't really matter too much, but this question, others like it, and pretty much every single one of the nobel prize questions are too long to fit on b.net. Are you going to be fixing those kinds of questions, too?
Also, with your pope/john cleaning, did you manage to get all the Johnyes?

I'll take care of the Alexander John/Pope questions, the Hennik Ibsen, and whatever Johneyes might be left (hopefully none, thought I got them all the first time around) tomorrow when I get home from work. Think I got all the Pope/white smoke ones last night. As to over-long questions...tag 'em (write 'em down in the thread) and I'll shorten them if possible, or outright remove them if not.
PS-I PM'ed Chalupa, and we've agreed for a once a month submission of revisions, so on January 31st or thereabouts I'm going to send in as many corrections as have been made by that point, and once a month thereafter.

"TV, Movies & Entertainment: The simpsons: Who ran over Snowball I?*Clovis Quimby.".
Notice the period after Quimby. Since the bots can't recognize periods, this question can't be answered.

"In what sport do the participants compete in the 'grand nationals'*auto" Apparently, there's a horse race in the UK called the "Grand National" and the NEXTEL Cup in NASCAR used to be called the Grand National. I assume the question means the latter, but it's a shitty answer regardless. "Science & Nature: The nematode caernohabditis elegans ages... a state of suspended animatio" The question ends there. I assume the answer of "two months" makes sense. "______ was the first video game, introduced in 1972 with 40 transistors you kept score on paper*odyssy" I can't find any information on Odyssy or Odyssey being any kind of actual game. However, there is the Magnavox Odyssey which was the first (commercially sold) video game console. Computer Space being the first (commercially sold) video game. "The director of Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark*Stephen Spielberg" Steven "Norse: God of lightning*odin" I have no idea here. I googled and looked through it. Some pages just said Thor is the God of Thunder. Some said he is the God of Thunder and Lightning. I saw nothing saying Odin is the God of Lighting, and the closest I saw said that his spear "Gungir" was the "embodiment of lightning". I don't know. "The average American will eat ---------- pounds of cereal per year."*19 (I think it was 19) "How many toes does a 4-toed salamander have*16" "The average person speaks about ---------- words per day.*31,500" Is this too large to want to spell out? And personally, when a question says "about" I would think the answer would round to 30,000. 32,000 MAYBE. I usually leave it up to you to come up with the new question, which I'm guessing will annoy you having to put so much effort into this and you'll tell me to fix the questions, too.

Gnome, a 4-toed salamander has 4 toes per foot. It also has 4 feet, giving it 4 * 4 = 16 toes.
Another John:
Who was the first president to have a audience with the John?*Woodrow Wilson

Famous Last Words: Icarus*aaaaaaaaaa! The answer is right, but it seems stupid to have a question where you have to count how many a's you put in (there are 10 by the way
