Since I get messaged several times a week by people who want to be TriviaHost Mods, I thought I would post a basic outline on how to become a Mod.
First, there are several minimum requirements that I have put into place before being considered:
1. Two current Mods must sign off on any Mod request.
2. Users must be at least a Junior Member, but I prefer a full member of this board.
3. Your history in the channel will be reviewed and users that have caused trouble in the channel will not be considered.
4. You must have been around for a while. Don't sign up one day and ask to be a mod the next.
Those are the basic minimum requirements. In addition, we must have a need for a new Mod, and I will evaluate final sign off once these conditions have been met.
I hope this cuts down on the Mod requests since if these basic conditions are not met, there is no point in asking for Mod status.
Several people have asked if they could just have .ban power (without a vote). I do not just hand out Ban power to anyone who asks! Only Mods will have that power.
Remember, trusted members of the web site have .voteban power which I still think is one of the greatest tools available. That way, if enough people are bothered by someone, the people in the channel will vote to have them removed. I have even seen Mods use this feature in cases where they want to let the users decide if someone is causing too much trouble.
I have even used this feature at times when someone appears to be anoying, but maybe the other people in the channel are not bothered or want the person to stay. It's the most democratic approach to Channel Moderating.

I will leave this post "open" for anyone that has questions.
