Most useless things ever.

Um...?
Not like I pay attention to them or anything, but I'm sure they're useful for those uber-conservative families out there that want to shelter their kids from everything in the world... and yes I mean everything.
I have some relatives like that... they keep their kids so sheltered from the world, the kids, 16 and 18 I think, don't even know what alternative music is (or most other kinds of music anyhow).
I mean, these kids actually like Southern Gospel music... That's all their allowed to listen to, I guess.
Homeschooled all their lives (the older one is now taking college courses online).
Wierdest family... extremely nice and happy, but sheltered from the rest of the world.
Sad, really.
But, anyway, yeah I do think they are rather useless, but they can probably be helpful in some situations for families with small children and whatnot.

Sheltering kids is pointless because they'll get exposed to the stuff eventually. It's a waste of time and effort. I feel sorry for your relatives, peon.

actually, i dont rilly think it is... the parental labels shelter the kids when they're about 1-11 on things like cd's, cuz thats when kids are stupid (face it, they pretty much don't know anything) but when they get older, they learn to not take everything so seriously... like i am starting to like iron maiden a bit but its not like i pay attention to the lyrics about babies getting run over in death machines..... so yeah its good music and i dunno maybe i listened to the lyrics when i was younger? but yeah as life goes by and people start buying their own stuff (about 12-13+) then the label is pretty pointless. same with those 'm' ratings on games, unless the retailers refuse to sell the stuff to you, which sucks......

Iron Maiden!
Nice. The cover art on their albums is awesome, too!

well games are different than music. it makes sense having m rated games because a lot of the new games are like gross....just the stuff you do or see can make you feel bad and was probably a bad idea to make. and then when little kids (like 10-13) want to buy these games and they are allowed to then does that have a positive effect on them? im sure that not every single kid playing those games is gonna be effected, but even to just those few it could be bad. plus when kids play stupid games and then think they can do stupid things in real life then shit happens.
but then again, i think that there are some games that shouldnt be rated m, like most of the games that are m could be t or something inbetween... i think my above ^ rant sounded a bit anti-m games, but i actually only think that a few m games are that bad. so yea

yea i know that that kid is reaaaalllllyyyy wrong, but duh reaaaaalllllyyy wrong kids shouldnt get their hands on those games anyway and i guess that why there are M rated games, so you need an adult to get em with.....unless their parents are reaaallllly wrong too

You can buy M-rated games if you're under 17 without a parent if the guys behind the counter don't care. I used to do it all the time. I got Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2, a few Resident Evils, Half-Life, Castle Wolfenstein, Eternal Darkness...
The best thing, though, is when I bought Brave Fencer Musashi when it first came out. I think it's got an E on it. Anyway, I opened it up and it had the Final Fantasy 8 demo in it - which had a mature rating on it. Totally insane...
