Zulu Records on west 4th.... in the Kitsilano area. The address i think is on the 2100 or 2000 block of w 4th. It's 2 blocks east of Arbutus, and on the south side of the street. Otherwise, theres the Virgin Megastore downtown on the corner of Burrard and Robson, but that's turning into the shitty HMV chain. There are also lots of little stores here and there.

Haha, that's what I said. Unlike you, however, I hate HMV. They never seem to have the cd's I'm looking for, and they are a tad overpriced. Futureshop and MAYBE A&B Sound has the best cd prices. However, since the store is so much bigger, the new HMV is supposed to have a lot more stock, but HMV always seemed sufficient as a mall store to me. I actually wanted Tower Records to move in, they were supposed to be the other contenders.

True, but they're a bunch more similar to the style of Virgin in terms of what they offer, than HMV. But yeah, go to Zulu.

Okay, so, I've just heard about the GTA AO thing. Apparently a lot of stores won't sell the game if it has an AO rating, just like a lot of places will not show NC-17 movies. Which pretty much makes it a useless rating, right? Except, of course, if you don't want anyone to ever see or use your stuff.
The nifty little article I'm looking at says:
In a statement, the president of the ESRB said the sex scenes were programmed by Rockstar "to be inaccessible to the player."
But ESRB chief Patricia Vance also acknowledged that the "credibility and utility" of the industry-run board's initial "M" rating had been "seriously undermined."
Oh yeah. They're seriously undermining the ESRB if the content was programmed to be inaccessible to the player. The article also says:
The developments did little to appease Sen. Hilary Rodham Clinton, D-New York, who applauded the ESRB investigation but remained disturbed that the sex content appeared on store shelves in the first place.
"Apparently the sexual material was embedded in the game. The company admitted that," Clinton said. "But the fact remains that the company gamed the ratings system."
Sex content? On shelves? That was programmed to be inaccessible to the players? GOD NO!
Why are they bothering changing the rating and everything anyway? Is videogame sex really that bad? You can have sex scenes in R rated movies. You can get into an R rated film if you're 17 or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Or you can sneak in. Or sometimes the theater usher or person behind the counter doesn't really give a shit. Then you're in luck.
Simulated videogame sex that was hidden in the game and was unlocked by a mod definitely deserves an AO rating. Oh yes. You have to be 18 to see that. God forbid anyone under 18 sees that.
And "gamed the ratings system"? Is that a joke or what? This article, which I love soooo much, says:
Best Buy echoed that, saying it hopes its decision to stop selling the game will "send a strong message to game developers encouraging full cooperation with the ESRB."
The Parents Television Council, one of several media watchdogs that have criticized Rockstar and the ESRB, called on the game publisher to voluntarily recall the game and offer refunds to purchasers. Instead, Rockstar has agreed to exchange unsold inventory with new, "M" rated versions that "have the hidden content removed," the ESRB said.
Full cooperation with the ESRB. Well, last time I checked, the ESRB rated games based on a short clip taken from the game which was supposed to show all aspects of the game in it. Maybe they should be more thorough? Oh, and maybe they should also make sure to dig through all the games to check for hidden content. You know, to make sure they assigned the right rating.
Parents Television Council. Ah, yes. Do they even matter here? The game is rated M (was rated..). That's for people 17 and up, it says on the case. I don't think the parents should really be involved here. And if they're upset because their 10-year old kid is now playing simulated video-game sex on Grand Theft Auto, well, shit, I'm at a loss for words.
The article speaks:
"I tip my cap to that first step of showing responsibility," said Tim Winter, the council's executive director. "Phase two needs to be absolutely getting to the bottom of this coding issue. How did it get into that game? How did it get past the ratings board?"
Didn't Rockstar already answer this? Jesus, I really hope Tim Winter reads this article, at least.

Wow.... I am confused. Is this the new GTA game? Why would it matter if 1) The game is intended for legal and one-year-shy of legal people, and 2) The content isn't accessible.
Exalt...

Yes, this is for GTA: San Andreas.
1) Exactly. This is ridiculous, especially seeing what age group the game's intended for. I think they can handle something like this.
2) Apparently on the PC version, there is a Hot Coffee mod which allows you to go through with this "sex mini-game". The data for this sex thing was put in the game but then Rockstar decided not to go through with it. They left the data in for the sex stuff but didn't put in a way to access it. So all versions of the game have the sex thing on there, but aside from the PC version, you can't access it, and even on the PC version, you can only access it using a mod.
Maddox posted some very sarcastic stuff about this earlier, greeny.

Haha, how much earlier, I'm sure I would have caught it...
Rockstar shouldn't have said that they had incorporated this bit, since mods can create things anyway, the rockstar people could have just said that the mod made had added whatever features.
