It was only a week away from Santa's big night and he was making the last minute preparations.
Santa however noticed that his stock of glow-in-the-dark yo-yos were short, and he asked Mrs. Claus why they were understocked and she said that the yoyo making elves were sick so they hired replacement elves. But the replacement elves couldn't make the yoyos as fast as the normal elves. So Santa had to work overtime to finish the last batch of yoyos.
The next day Santa went out to take his reindeer for a warm-up trip to get them ready for the long journey, but when he arrived at the stables only Prancer, Vixen, and Blitzen were there. When Santa asked the stable elves where the other reindeer were he was told that they broke out of the stables at night, hopped the fence, and went for a trip to Australia.
Santa brought out his mechanical stand-in reindeer to only be used in cases of emergency. He brought out his sleigh and hooked up Prancer, Vixen, and Blitzen along with the other mechanical reindeer to the sleigh to warm the three real reindeer up. However, the elf who was in charge of maintenance of mechanical objects was sick in the North Pole Hospital with a bad case of pneumonia. Because of this lack of maintencance to the sleigh Santa's mechanical reindeer crashed and burned his whole sleigh as well as his beard. Surprisingly Prancer, Vixen, and Blitzen escaped any injury but they were seen high-tailing it to the south, supposedly to meet up with the other reindeer in Australia.
Finally when Santa arrived home, he sat down. De-bearded, reindeerless, sleighless, Santa just had enough. He pulled out his malt liqour and his whiskey and decided to drink away his pains. Just as he finished his first bottle a little angel came to his door. The angel brought a beautiful pine tree and said, "Santa i have this Christmas tree, where do you want me to put it?"
In that instant Santa froze, glared down at the innocent angel, and told the angel where to put the Christmas tree.
That is the story of why we put little angels at the top of our Christmas trees.
