A day or two I ago I found this little program called Folding@Home. It doesn't have to do with folding laundry but instead it's all about folding proteins. It's similar to SETI@Home, the wonder program that uses your screensaver to help scientists detect little green men(and/or women) out in the cosmic beyond. Folding@Home deals with protein folding, fun eh? But it is actually cool. What it does is siphon off a tiny bit of your computer's processing power and uses it to study different proteins in an effort to learn more about how certain proteins do the amazing things that they do in our bodies. The research could potentially help find cures for disease's such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and others. For more info go to the website folding.stanford.edu/It's cool and it can help people and your barely have to do anything to get it going. So give it a try. I've also set up a team for op triviahost. During configuration just put 55759 as your team number to be in the op triviahost team.

I'm confused. This sounds like advanced A.I. where the computer actually researches. This doesn't seem possible.

It sounds more like a simulator to me, and the data is sent to the stanford group where they analyze it.

prone considering how you talk of all this computer prowess, yet you don't know what and how folding works?

Sigh, that "person" is back. lol advanced AI. ROFLcopter Dx has it right. It's a simulation based program. From the site: Folding@Home uses novel computational methods coupled to distributed computing, to simulate problems thousands to millions of times more challenging than previously achieved.edit: should also be considered like heroin to a conservative. A program that can help cure diseases without cloning, stem cells or satan worship. But I kid. I kid because I, uh, "don't love". (This probably requires explanation. Usually the saying is I kid because I love, but considering whom this is written to, that will never be uttered/written ever

prone considering how you talk of all this computer prowess, yet you don't know what and how folding works? Well, I never looked into it.
