Many of you have probably seen PingGnome@azeroth come to the channel and if she (yes she) does not get booted, she'll answer a question in 500ms and then leave, to the anger of many trivia players. For those of you who don't know, Pinggnome is a battle.net statistics gathering bot which gathers a wide range of information, which can be accessed here: lynxy.no-ip.com/pinggnome/I had no idea that the gnome keeps track of our accounts like it does, which can be kind of scary. Also, there are some triggerless commands which work with it, saying hello followed by yes or no prompts some dialogue. Discuss (and visit the link). |

Eh, it doesn't seem invasive at all really. It only gathers data that anyone can access just by looking at you for a little while. It is limited to ping and records and location mainly. Annoyingly it answers one question of Trivia but she does give a valid reason for such even though it doesn't apply to our channel.

it also keeps a track of what other channels you join and the frequency at which you join them
its also interesting to see all the users seen in op triviahost

I have never witnessed this phenomena and therefore conclude that it does not exist.
Obligatory religious overtones aside, that's pretty interesting coming from a guy who can't understand shit from that page. I get the general idea, but the techno babble is blah blah techno computers nerd binary jargon computer.

followed by yes and it goes "pinggnome is scared...."

I respect the author, because she was a member of my clan at one time. I do find the trivia answering a bit annoying, and showed an anti-trivia plugin I wrote to alotofzerg. If she continues to bother all us trivia moguls, it may be time to use this script in our favor.
