Similar sites, Digg has more of a "community" feeling to it. They're both link dumps, Fark from time to time has some nsfw stuff, so beware. The sites themselves are clean though. Good places to go for political, technological, scientific news and interesting videos//pictures.
I figure 90% of you know Digg, 50% maybe know Fark, but just in case anyone doesn't frequent the sites like me, they're a good place to go when you're bored.
Of course, they're not by any means a substitute for the good ole news networks.
