there is a distinct difference though between being spiritual and being religious because to some extent i agree or at least understand what you mean p.s. off topic threads are pretty much the life of this forum, don't worry about it too much

You know, what you stated about gay people and stuff in the bible, they were pretty much wiped out. the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, where the term sodomizing came from, was the most ruthless of all the ancient towns. Fornication, prostitution, you name it, were the norm. God wiped them all out, so everyone has their paid dues at some point in time or another.

As much as I would love to challenge you to prove those contradictions that you speak of, which would result in me proving you wrong by using a little thing called "context"--something people love to overlook when quoting and discussing the Bible--I have a feeling that it would be an effort almost as wasted as you are. Nevertheless, the offer stands, if at some point you can pry yourself away from your venereal-disease-carrying bong-pipe for more than an hour at a time.

Bongs and pipes are two very different things.
And a venereal disease is sexually transmitted, not orally.
You sure like to use big words you don't know the meaning of, trying to make yourself seem smarter than everyone else, because you seem to think you're better than everyone else who doesn't blindly use your petty excuse for intelligent speak.
So yeah, please stop trying to put yourself above other people because you don't approve of their lifestyle, was my point.

1. I don't need to know the difference between a bong and a pipe to know that they're both used for doing illegal drugs.
2. If you stopped to think a little harder about the "venereal disease" part, you'd realize that I was implying that the bong/pipe/whatever the hell it is, was being used in some sexual way as well as for the drugs; I guess that was too subtle for you. (And if you're still under the impression that STD's cannot be transmitted by anything except actual intercourse, you need to re-take high school health-class).
3. I am not trying to put myself above other people, I am simply calling "bullshit" when I see it. As for you personally, I don't know you enough to make the judgment on whether you are actually a pot-smoking party animal, or a 13-year old kid who thinks he's cool because he talks about doing drugs and "tripping out" and "doing acid with bong boy and hippie girl", between taking out the garbage and being called down to dinner by his mother. But I can make that judgment about someone else who has posted in this thread, and he (or she) is almost certainly the latter.
We all love to pretend to be something we're not, and the internet is the best place to do it.
EDIT: Not to mention that the original "bullshit" that needed to be called out was Softspoken's claim that the Bible is full of contradictions (and gay orgies, but that myth was dispelled rather quickly).

Aight, we'll do the number thing.
1.) I am 100% sure that if illegal drugs were not illegal, and had never been, you would have absolutely nothing against them. I'm not defending all drugs here, only marijuana. I'm sure we can agree that every other drug is illegal for a reason. But, to here much defense of marijuana, refer to the debate thread on the topic.
2.) People don't f*ck each other with bongs/pipes. It's not about not seeing the subtlety, it's about your implication not making any sense. And, if you look up the word venereal, you'd see it's a sexually transmitted disease. That's what I did. We weren't talking about any other disease, just the venereal kind.
3.) Referring to pot smokers as party animals, 13-year old kids, bong boys and hippie girls IS putting yourself above them. Firstly, just because you smoke pot doesn't make you a drain on society, or a deadbeat. And you definitely don't have to be young, I know many, many adults who do it more often than I do. They also lead perfectly normal, successful lives. Now, I saw you were trying to put yourself above ME as well, so let me tell you something. I am 17, Grade 12, and I do, in fact, smoke weed from time to time. I also get A's and B's in school, have a girlfriend, a steady job, volunteer, and am an all around good person. I don't do it because I think it's "cool", only because I like the feeling you get.
So yeah, your turn.

(I find the numbers make it easier to separate the different parts of the argument, thereby eliminating the need to quote the previous person's post.)
1. You're trying to make an entire argument out of the fact that I inserted the word "illegal" in my first sentence. Straw-men have no place in a debate. And while I do agree with you that many drugs are illegal for a very good reason, and that pot is not necessarily one of them, that is far beside the point.
2. I can see how you misinterpreted that, and I think what I should have said was "bodily-fluid-borne disease" instead of "venereal"; unfortunately there's no nice one-word term for the first option, so I decided to go with the second. Regardless, you are again making a mountain out of a mole-hill, and it's a waste of words.
3. "Party-animal" has far more of a positive connotation, especially when used in reference to high school / college-age males by other high school / college-age males (somewhat like black guys calling each other "African Americana"). Thus, I am not saying that I am superior to people who actually do these things (not just pot, but the whole hard-core party scene in general) and enjoy them; I am pointing out the hypocrisy of those who pretend they do, even while they're not yet old enough to drive a car. However, if, as rabidgecko said, the person who I was originally referring to (Softspoken, in case you got lost) is actually not a poser/hypocrite/whatever you want to call it, I stand corrected.
I do find it amusing, though, that you're willing to jump to the defense of someone you barely know, just because he/she claims to share the same lifestyle.
