So, it's that time of the decade again, where we all come together and root for our respective country in the Olympics. This time around happens to be of the Winter variety.
Can the US beat out Germany for the medal count this year? Will Canada take the gold for hockey? Can Michelle Kwan finally get Olympic gold? Can the Jamaicans finally win the bobsled? Will anybody ever care about curling?
So, converse, argue, make incoherent ramblings, or whatnot. It's all good!

I bet that Michelle Kwan drops out. Just a guess though.

the jamaicans dont have a bobsled team this year, unfortunately, but i think that norway may beat out the states for total medal count. i dont think theyèll have more gold, they might, but i think theyèll just have more medals in the end
and of course Canada is gonna win gold in hockey, mens and womens

I was making a reference to the movie "Cool Runnings." I neither know nor care if Jamaica has a bobsled team.

I bet that Michelle Kwan drops out. Just a guess though. Chalupa She actually dropped out before you posted that, but nice try. And yea it seems Norway has an early lead, but it was projected Germany would win again this year(currently in 2nd) I think it will be pretty close at the end. Feel the rhythm, feel the ride, Cmon Jamaica, its bobsled time!!

True curling's not "edge of your seat" exciting, but it has its place, it tends to get Canada some medals!
One interesting thing I noticed from the opening ceremonies and the introduction to the different countries was that it seems a lot of those 'warm countries' that only send like one person, tended to send "americans." But because his father 3 generations back was from Thailand he gets to compete on the Thailand team lol. I really wonder how many "americans" are at the olympics. Even for the Italian hockey team, I know that a majority of it are Canadians. I guess someone knows the rules for these things, but it does seem strange: if you've lived in the country for like 5 years, you should have to only play for them!

I'm with you on that one. But people get all sorts of "favors" and whatnot for returning to their "home" country for the Olympics. Then again, that's the only way some of them are able to compete. If competing for the country they currently live in, then they might not make the cut, but if competing for a different country, they'll have more of a chance to make it to the Olympics, even if they wouldn't do any better that way. They still can say that they've gotten there, which is a lot more than a lot of other people.

She is an even better at predicting than I am. I'm not as big a fan of Winter sports but I would love to see us beat Canada in hockey. That would be pretty cool. Chalupa

no, women's hockey team for canada won gold and men's won 3 games and lost 2, but thats a hella lot better than usa's 1 win 1 tie and 3 losses.... but thats just the round robin so the states still have a chance i guess

Both mens teams are out of the gold medal hunt now.
Kinda a given for the US, but c'mon Canada...

Yup Canada's out, and not even a lousy bronze medal! Thank goodness for the women and their gold.
But on the plus side, Canada's doing pretty sweet in the overall standings! Tied with the United States.

Are you sure that we weren't at the time? Well whatever. As to my earlier prediction/statement in regards to curling: Canadian Men took curling gold! (women got bronze) Props to the Americans though, hehe, their men got bronze, their first medal in curling ever (I watched that when I was down in the States!).
