Just in case before I get banned for anything, without me doing anything wrong unintentionally:
I was wondering if I can use a bot to log on to B.net into the channel? Because I use two computers, here at my home, and at my dad's office. At my dad's office I can't log on to b.net using SC, so I had to use a bot to talk to people.
Question is, is it okay for me to use a bot like stealthbot to log in to b.net. Even if I don't use it for anything else but chatting?
I really don't know how to use this thing except for chatting.

Chalupa, Alone was banned through the warning system today. I unbanned him immediately because it didnt seem to me that he was doing anything wrong. This warning system seems stricter than Loki's measure of what constitutes spam and slacker than me banning poor ole starcraftrocks.
Hey Alone you have a copy of the logs..we could post a complaint about Chalupa .. a 'please explain'! ;D ;D ;D You need to be purged Chalupa!

Ok, I will ban myself, but then I have to close the web site, and all three OP channels! Muahahahaha If someone gets banned unfairly, then just unban them for now. I have been fine tuning the detection system all day but the only way to test it is to put it in the channel. I tested it in a private channel and it seemed pretty fair although I know some people have the habit of typing things one word at a time like: hey there really fast. That is spam to the trivia bot and unless you guys want it to lag, or disconnect all the time, we need a system in place to control the spamming. I know we need some adjustments but so far, I would say 80% of the banning was absolutely legit (And I have the logs to prove it). BTW, typing h h h as fast as you can is SPAMMING!!! And you will be banned immediately for that! Every line of text that you enter has to be read by all of the bots and reviewed for alot of possible actions. If all 20 to 30 people in the channel did that at the same time, the bot would take 15 seconds to catch up and might even flood out. I also can't help but notice it's the same people getting banned time and time again, and yet others get no warnings at all. That means you need to stop spamming! A few of you, did get warnings and some even banned without spamming, but the majority were banned for good reason (or warned). Anyone who thinks the system is not working, post here, and I will show you the logs of people banned today and how most were banned for good reason. Some people even spammed on purpose after seeing the system in place. For those people, I laugh and say good bye! (Until you learn your lesson). The bots have been lasting much longer and lagging alot less with the system in place, and many people have told me they think it's great. I will make more adjustments however, when I see people warned or even banned for bad reasons. It's not an easy program to write and if someone has a better way to write the script for me, post it here. (Yeah, that's what I thought! None of you know how to program in VB Script). Chalupa Edit: Oh, and I realize that some of you are not spamming on purpose, but if you are typing three or four lines in a row, that fast, then you need to learn to type it all on one line!!! It fits, and saves the bot! I should start a "Save the Bot" campaign.

Oh no Chalupa did you realise that we are both now grossly off topic? The title of this thread is 'Using bots' and I think Alone was wondering if he could use his bot in the channel.

Yeah, i've been doing it all day. Consider this a warning to myself!
Chalupa
Edit: Oh, and it's ok to use bots as long as it doesn't whisper people entering the channel, have an idle message, mimick people, or basically use any bot functions other than chat.

i think the spam detection is great, but sometimes people would type "lol" twice, and there's a long gap in between and maybe even 5 or 6 people have talked since the first time, and they still get warned. i know this is a good way to detect spammers so people just need to be careful about typing the same thing twice. (i got warned by typing "hehe" twice ^^)

I changed the script to let people say "lol" without it looking at it as spam.

That's great Chalupa because Im an overuser of lol, lol! I will need to curb my own habits though because Ive noticed I can divide what I say into more than 1 line and as much as three lines. But, its just a habit and I will get used to this system u have in place. Again, great continuing work Chalupa, we really appreciate it.

I have noticed very few people banned now by the system due to the changes made, but also to people being more carefull not to spam or flood. The ones that were banned were mostly spammers that deserved to be banned. I'm still working on a few tweaks though since it still is warning when I don't want it to at times. Of course, the more I tweak it back, the longer a spammer will survive in the channel without getting banned.
