I look into all the "Today in History" references at the bottom of the main page everyday. Today I found this one.
February 8, 2004: President Bush acknowledged in a TV interview that he might have been wrong in claiming before the war that Iraq had stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction. But, he said, "I expected to find the weapons."
I wish I had seen that interview. I think that the word assumed would have worked better than expected. Because it sure did make an @$$ out of all americans. I dunno, just my two cents.
