I've heard it suggested a few times that the bot should whisper a newcomer the current question. I think it's a great idea and if this were possible it would be a nice addition. Also the elimination of "year" questions from the database would help against flooding/spam problems.
One other thing as well. Answers with three or less letters are generally bad because the bot gives no hints and this also leads to flooding and spam. If this could be solved somehow, that would be great.

Some very nice ideas. I never thought of having the current question whispered but it makes sense since people always join and then ask what the question is. I'm not sure that it's possible but I will look in to it. I agree with removing the questions with a year as the answer but it will take some time since the question file is beyond huge. I have a couple of ideas though to make it easier.
Chalupa
Edit: I went through and deleted a TON of questions where a year is the answer! Still alot more to go, but I probably deleted about 100 of them. It would take forever to clean out all of the years, and three or less character answers as well since I saw alot of those.
I'll slowly keep working on it.
Edit#2: It was a great idea, and I was able to make the bot whisper the current question when you enter the channel. If the question has already been answered, then it tells you that and that its waiting for the next question! Thanks for the suggestion!

That's great!! I'm glad that the bot change was easy enough to implement that quickly. I can't take any credit for the idea, though, one or two other people suggested it in the channel, so I figured I'd post it here. I can't remember who suggested it, sorry :/
And I'm glad that you're working on cleaning up the bad spam answers. Keep up the good work, please.

Um, did I say it was easy? ;D
I couldn't do the scripting all on my own, so I got the basic script from some of the script programmers on the web, and then I made a few adjustments from there. (Since it didn't work the way they made it).

BTW: What do you guys think of this...and any other ideas?

Yeah, I just noticed that when I came online today. Good addition. People always seem to want to know the question, but often it's too hard/time consuming to tell them. Good Work!

I just discovered this thread in my travels today and thought to say that I really liked the idea of the bot whispering the current question when entering the channel. Skondy, if it wasnt for you making the effort to post, another good idea could have laid to waste. Thanks to you and Chalupa, this channel is getting better every week. Isnt it great to be a part of it?
