i dont disagree with the no points on after the 3rd hint rule if your alone, but its too strict. you say you only need 3 or more active players to get a point after 3 hints but ive been in with 5 or 6 active players and still gotten no points after the third hint. But as long as you can answer to keep streaks going then its ok i guess

You're right..but that was just a bug in the script. The bug caused the bot to believe there was no one in the channel all the time. I fixed the bug last night, and all seems to be working now!

Three words:
W, T, and F.
I thought we were getting rid of all the music questions. We had them pretty well controlled with the old bot, but WOAH with the new bot!
There's way too many music questions. Most of them don't even make any sense, either.
That goes true with a bunch of the other questions, also. The answers to some either A) Don't make much sense or B) Don't make any sense at all. The question category gives them as 'Cryptic' or whatnot and a lot of the questions now are just random bits of trivia about random insignificant things (ok, more so than before...).
And one specific example with a question of something along the lines of "What causes an erection?." I gave the answer of "increased blood flow to the penis," which fit the hints... or so I thought. The actual answer was "increased blood flow to the d i c k (grr... won't let me type it without the spaces)."
Seriously... W T F.

I found a question file on the internet with about 125,000 questions. It claimed that it was about 98% free of errors which is pretty good. The error rate may be a little higher but this is the first complaint I have heard about the new question file. It does have a large Music section, but no larger than any other catagory. I figured people might be sick of the 25,000 or so questions we have been using for the last year and a half so I added the new ones.
Is anyone else upset over the new questions?

Sure, it might be free of errors, but there's a lot more random (and I mean RANDOM) questions about stuff most people don't know. I've seen many questions in a row go unanswered and everyone is just stumped in the channel.

Okay I did review the new question file and there was alot of music questions. I removed a good majority of them so it should get better.
I know some of the questions are tougher but I thought that might make it more fun. If it turns out these are too hard, then I need some feedback so I can remove them.
So far, I have not heard any feedback...so I would like to hear some input on what you guys want.

Yup yup, it had too much music. The questions are definetly pretty hard, but its not just the questions, but its the answers the bot is looking for. As Lost was saying, I was there for the erection question, you can know the answer basically, but the problem is getting it in the exact wording. I'll also just point out that, this also hurts the points awarded, since if you do manage to figure out their specific wording, it'll probably not be until the last hint; which means you get either 1 or 0 points for a 5 word sentence. Which brings up the idea of giving more points to longer answers?
But ya, I've also seen many questions go by (albeit when there's not too many people in the channel) and nobody can even attempt an answer. But then I guess we'll have to get smarter!

ya alot of the questions are too hard, and the wording of the answers is killing people
For example, there was a question the other day where they asked you to translate a word into navajo. WHO KNOWS NAVAJO? i dont even think they teach navajo to people outside the tribe. thanks to the .skip command...
the angles and demons questions are hard too
the new bot script works fine its just that some of the questiosn are too hard and the hints can be so weak that alot more questions are going unanswered

Haha. Yep I also noticed many people are stealing other people's answers. The funny thing is, even when the answer isnt even near correct. Heres a example of how stupid some people really are:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
TheTriviahost: What year did world war II start? Me: hippo Dummy : A hippo Dummy 2: Hippopotamus
------------------------------------------------------------------------
And some of the questions are either too long or too short.
And some people are abusing .votekick and .voteban
And some foolish people like to try and votekick or voteban thetriviahost.

So... Is East going to be switched over next month to the West-style bot? Are the scores going to be reset at the end of May for April/May? Have there been any recent changes to any commands to the new bot(rank, etc.)?

No new commands as of yet....i've been to busy/lazy to work on the bot. Chalupa

This topic might be covered somewhere else, but on a lot of the topics, there will be a 15 letter plus answer. And over half the time, after the first hint, there will only be one letter added upon that, which makes it extremely difficult and frustrating when you can't make it out and it can be repeated a couple of times.
For the ones that are even longer, usually the bot does give 2 or 3 letters at a time, but that might not even be enough for an answer that is close to being more of a phrase. Please elaborate on this.

Ok well, I would like to hear about how these problems will change and such. Here is a little cut-out from today. [3:55:25 PM] <parson1> its cause the new bot sucks [3:55:27 PM] <leafs4ever> the goon [3:55:29 PM] <Drag00nSlAy3r> yea [3:55:30 PM] <TheTriviaHost Q: Hidden Word Game:The Cluedo murder weapon is located in one of the rooms of the property?> [3:55:30 PM] <TwiX-BoT> hmm [3:55:30 PM] <parson1> but chalupa says it soo much better [3:55:30 PM] <Drag00nSlAy3r> i agree [3:55:33 PM] <TwiX-BoT> rope [3:55:34 PM] <TheTriviaHost Ownage by TwiX-BoT! The answer was: Rope (Points: 3 Score: 96 Streak: 2)> [3:55:35 PM] <parson1> and everyone loves it soo much
I know most of the higher users don't see eye-to-eye with some users from East, particularly parson, but however, the hints are quite annoying when someone is so close as to gettin an answer right and all they need a few more letters to get it and they don't. I do NOT believe that the new bot is bad, however. Everyone knew the answers to the old bot and now that this bot has a lot of new questions, a lot of the users seem to be getting irritated rather easy.
Bottom Line: Users want more letters per hint. Trivia bot is doing great. Users seem to get b!tchy easier. Help!!!!

Okay...let me explain some of this. Parson was arguing with me the other day because he hates the new bot. More than anything, it seems to me he just hates it because he does although his complaint was the Hints and the questions.
Understand this guys: Whatever bot I use, the questions don't change. I have a few different question files, and any bot can use any of the question files. So please stop matching the different bots to the types of questions, cause that's like saying you don't like a car because of the Chevron Gasoline it uses. Start going to Arco....
Second, the old bot gave worst hints than the new bot! Some of the biggest complaints with the old bot was:
three letter answers give no hint - This is fixed with the new bot
Long answers give 1 letter or 2 letters with each hint- The new bot may still need to be better, but it gives more hints than the old bot gave
So i'm not too sure what the problem is with the new bot. So far the complaints have been the minority but those that do complain are not able to give valid reasons. I'm starting to assume that the people that don't like the new bot, just don't want to like it.
You can suggest improvements to the new bot, and I can work on making those changes but for those (like Parson) who just want to trash it..... i'm not sure what I can do for them.
