Although I don't have nothing against idolising the person who comes first in trivia, I think the "losers" or other contestants should be noted somewhere as well. As this month, of October, is drawing to a close I think that maybe the top 10 or even top 15 people should be listed somewhere, not just pandora, as she's first as of this time. Either Chalupa, since he has access to the scores or other users could make this top 10/15 list of people who have put in effort but just haven't made it. Again I agree that first should be promoted high and above the rest, so first's name can be in glittering letters or what not, but other people should be listed! So something like: OCTOBER 1. "NavY_Ceals" 50,000 2. then second and so on
points can also be added if we have access to them
This can also be done retrospectively, so possibly for September and before then. A few names that I do remember which were quite prominant earlier and now.. gone, would be: of course dterror, then there was gummo and gingerbaker.
So let's hear what ya think of that, and you can post other names you guys can remember, that got close, but never made first. A big name that would fill that spot would be lostpeon who was way out securely in second place in the first session, and then second in September and although he's slowed down in this month, still up there.

Yea, I just never seem to be able to hang on to that first place... First it was dterror and the others, but mostly dterror, and now pandora, trash, etc. I just can't keep up, somehow I always end up second... It's kind of frustrating, but that's how it goes. I hope I will be remembered for time to come, as I have mentioned, I won't be playing much trivia anymore, but I'm sure I'll be on at times. Good luck all, and I hope nobody else gets the curse of the 2nd.

I didn't come first this month but thought I'd give panny a run for her money so I upped the ante with a bit of competition in October that put me in 2nd place. It did cross my mind too that it would be nice to see how many of the competitors placed at the end.
It's true that it is very difficult and time consuming to come in first place. One must virtually live on-line towards the end of the month to retain that position. However, we do have regulars in the channel who should be recognised for providing excellent competition. LostPeon, Spinattacks and Buckeye are just a few players that made for a lively competition.
I agree with Navy and perhaps players who score within the first ten places should receive recognition on this board as well as a few hard earned points to begin with in the following month. This bonus system should work on a sliding scale with the first place winner awarded more than the second place winner and so on down to the tenth place.
A suggestion of what the point values could possibly be:
1st = 40 2nd= 35 3rd = 30 4th= 25 5th - 10th =20
I really like the idea, what do you all think?

its i nice idea, but theres one problem. some people may get discouraged when the first placed player gets a large sum of points to start off with. I think that the first player should get points, but not enough to put a serious advantage to other people. some people only manage to get 5 - 10 points per evening so those extra points may be a terrible struggle to overcome.
Not that I'm against pandora getting points, I know she deserved it %110,but perhaps the people on the lower end of the scale should be getting the points. It could be quite a morale booster for them.

I'm going to agree with Rabid, although I think that the top 10/15 should be written down somewhere, I don't think that they should get points to start with. The whole idea of starting over every month is so that the playing field can again be leveled. If the people who were at the top are put right back at the top again.. it would probably mean less of a lead, but a lead none the less. Besides, the people who manage to get up to those ranks, as has been mentioned earlier, are the ones who are able to put in countless hours and are able to again build up their points.

Yes, I think we four are largely in agreement. It shouldnt be a problem to post monthly results in a thread on the front page each month. However, I think that one should have to achieve at least a score of fifty to be listed.

Well I, personally, don't really care for the recognition. But that's probably because I never get more than maybe 150 points ever month. I just like to test my knowledge and get to fratrinize with peeps such as yourselves. But, I guess that if I had gotten 2nd, 3rd or 4th I would care, so....

I would like to see this happen. The top 20 would be adequate I believe since that every one at rank 20th or above has atleast like 250 pts which is kind of a lot in retrospect to the amount of time that is put in, especially at the beginning of the month or when a new person starts to accumulate points. Those first one hundred take forever! Or maybe i wasn't just as swift as the rest of yall...
