TriviaHosters, it has been a fine 4 years and 6 months since I started hosting the trivia after Chal and G left me in charge of it. I enjoyed keeping the channel up for you guys. I didn't play much trivia, but I kept it up for you guys, the community. That's the beauty of what I did. It was done for the sake of all of you.
The community started in 2002, but these forums came in 2004. Such a long time for such a good community. This will remain the longest time any community I've been in has lasted. That is an amazing fact, and one that I held proudly for having kept alive for 4 years and 6 months. Alas, I think it's time to call this the last time I make an effort to keep it alive.
I've thought of advertising in the past, but it didn't go very far. I even wrote a bot that could be used for advertisement. It was used for a time, but I didn't use it very often. Sure it brought in a few people, but the whole advertising campaign didn't last long. How can you really advertise when the platform on which you're advertising on isn't that active? Especially not as active as it was years before? Those questions went in my mind. Also, I didn't really make a lot of effort, since I was the only one.
One of the traditions of the community was to post the monthly scores and then promptly reset them at the start of the next month. This was a tradition that I continued from G after she and Chal left. I kept it because I thought it brought a bit of competitiveness to the community, and checking the forums for the top ten scorers each month was kind of a fun concept.
TriviaHost was very competitive in the first few years that I was a member. I remember people like Doom3x, mama_goose, LostPeon, WhoT, and others, who were such nice members of the community and even brought part of the competitiveness. I won't ever forget you guys for a long time. This community has created precious memories for me. While there was a lot of tension between me and other members in the past, I do have good memories from people here.
Thank you guys for all that you've done. Coming back for 4 years and 6 months shows amazing dedication. Thank you all for making this community what it was. I will never forget it so long as I can help it.
