It seems that all the worlds top players/teams are being brought down by something or someone.
#1: Tiger Woods - With the knee injury he's not expected to play until next year. Will he be as great as he was?
#2: Roger Federer: After losing Wimbledon to Rafael Nadal, he lost in the quarterfinals in the Olympics against Robert Blake who had previously won only one set against Federer. Is this simply a slump or something worse?
#3: New England Patriots: Winning all regular season games, having the highest ranked quarterback and recievers, defeating every team in the play-offs and then losing the Superbowl? Now that the Giants have proven their mortality can the Patriots Recover?
#4: USA Men's Basketball: Sure, it's a little late but with the loss of the Dream Team, does this years team have what it takes to become the "Redeem Team"?
There are plenty more examples, and although things like this happen eventually, their proximity seems to be a bit peculiar to me. Your thoughts?

Every once in awhile I get to thinking that sports is staged a bit.....I mean some of the things that happen are ridiculous and I have no idea how it happened.

1. Everyone gets hurt some time or another, besides Cal Ripken Jr. 2. Federer probably isn't too far from retiring, old by tennis standards. 4. USA Basketball has been hampered by poor personel decisions for the international game, and the world is getting better. Basketball is a game where one team can get really streaky hot and catch a superior team sleeping, which is why the NCAA final four tourney is one of the most exciting in sports.
The Patriots... Bahh they cost me money, even though I knew the Giants matched up pretty well, they had no business losing that game. Not much to explain that one either, other than a Giants team playing outter their minds, and New Englands D showing their age.

Peyton is hobbled a bit too early on, but he was never that mobile anyway. I wonder if the madden curse will continue with the ol' iron man of football Bret Favre?
Is it just me? When I say the actual Brett Favre's name, I say it right. Yet with the Brett from the channel I always say it in my mind.. Fahv ray. Must have something to do with 'Something About Mary'.

It is a revolution in means of it is a cycle. The top can't stay at the top forever and will, at some point, falter and overtaken by the better, newer and younger opponent.
In regards to your four going down within the same year:
1. Injuries happen. Will recover to win more events, but to what scale those events are, no one knows.
2. Yes, he is getting old by tennis standards as ferrous pointed out. He is officially on the latter half of his pentacle (which was shown by him dominating Murray to win the US Open. He has some juice left and will for a couple more years before he goes from an amazing and spectacular player to just another good and talented player.
3. Since you wrote this earlier in regard to Brady's injury, perfection, not taking the word literally, is rare in sports. If the football season was extended to double the games, no one would ever have a perfect record. The Fins went 17 straight to win the big one and the Pats had to garner 19 just to get to the big game. Who is to say that the Fins would have faltered with the extra games they theoretically would have had to play. Well, now I'm off my point and will save it for the conclusion.
4. They won gold. They are invalid to your argument.
Basically, it's far-fetched to loop all of these players from their respective sports and to say that sports, as a one-dimension being, is undergoing a total regime change.
Either that, or Alf is finally getting back at everyone for years of neglect and having to put up with Pete Wentz' shit anymore.
