It's pointless. Moreso (<-- isn't a word) depending on how you look at it. School is only necessary from K-6th grade to get a good job, however, . The only necessary elements in K-6th is are English and Math. Math is only necessary from K-4th either add 4th grade or drop the "th" though, while English is in fact needed all the way up to sixth grade. If you want to get a better understanding and be a better writer altogether, then English is pretty much? required up to 12th grade?. But if you think about what you learn in school, it's all meaningless. I will never use linear combinations in my adult life. I will never use the method of divinding/adding/multiplying/subtracting fractions, unless I am curious as to how much pie I have left and there are more than one. I will never use the concept of understanding the photosynthesis process of a plant. I will never use the information of who won the battle of little bighorn. I will never need to use yea I wouldn't use one either, but knowing one couldn't hurt the anatomy of a frog. School is pointless. Unfathomably pointless. What makes it an even more idiotic process are the fellow students who attend it. They're so stupid and so inept that the state has to dumb down the standards to meet the brain level of the children. It's rather funny because they'll all be on welfare very soon anyway, so it's a big, never-ending circle of money falling down the drain, time being wasted, and armpits being saturated with sweat. Wow barney, sorry for being a tad crude, but pull your head out of your ass and take a good long look around you and realize that to get ANYWHERE in life, besides being a homeless person or maybe a janitor, you need a higher education than Grade 6. Ok, actually ignore all that, you couldn't possibly use any knowledge you get at all. What good is knowledge right? If you keep thinking that way barney, this will be you once you finish highschool

I'm not going to point them out because I don't have the time right now. Uh oh, you're going to start attacking me on that, because you view that as a feeble attempt to rebuild my other post. If I wanted to, I could start correcting your own corrections to my post, but I'm not as vindictive as you. And yes, you hardly use any knowledge you "learn" in school. So knowledge is meaningless and I agree with you. "This" will be me, okay, but I guarentee I'll be more successful than you. I'll be smarter than you (according to "scholastic" standards). One day, you will be dancing for peanuts I throw at you. Stop trying to act like Chalupa.

Actually.. in most of life, Barney, being 'smart' isn't everything in life. One could be a genious but still belittled and walked over and get low salaries. It's about the road you take, the timing, and a bit of luck and a bit of know how. Besides, if you're successful, why waste your time throwing peanuts at someone on the street? You sure aren't very moral.

With your attitude, I can guarantee (notice I spelled it correctly?) you will not be more successful than Rabid. Unless you are now claiming to have ESP, you have no basis for your claim. In fact, since I am already very sucessful my prediction holds more weight than that from a teenage Barney fan. My prediction goes to Rabid. Plus, common sense is more important to finding success in life and you seem to be lacking in that area. Stop trying to be like Trash Bag. Chalupa

:PSchool is here to separate the stupid people from us smart people. Only us smart people will get somewhere in life, while the other stupid people drop out and make us our sandwiches. Seriously though, without school we'd all be screwed. School is the easiest way to pass on past knowledge and to further our knowledge of things.

In my limited experience of schooling, the thing thats most important is exactly how to learn something. The process of learning in itself, not what your learning but how. That, IMHO, is the real purpose of 'school'.
Besides the fact that school is boring (until college =p), it does have benefits. It teaches you how to put effort into something(doing homework for 2 hours), the importance of a social life, and dont forget it gives you the credentials to get into college.
IMHO, yes school is pointless on a few levels, but the skills that it gives you are nothing but beneficial. You'd be a lot better off just going to school overall then trying to get out of it.
Besides, you got 2 options. 1. You can go to school spend a few years of your life, making your life. Opening more options for you. or 2. You can skip/drop out of school leaving you with close to no options besides a few high risk jobs, hitman/drug-dealer etc etc..
^my 2 cents^

Lots of high school dropouts and people who never bothered with college there. Writing trashy novels could work too, hahaha...

Yeah you could do that too i suppose. What I was basically aiming at was if you dont go to college, your left on nothing but skill. And sadly most jobs (in the us atleast i cant speak for any other countries, although i imagine its the same or getting there) wont accept you no matter how good your skills are if you dont got that piece of paper. Which really blows because that dont prove anything but dedication mostly. And writing a book/film script is a nice idea but equally difficult ><. Its just a trade off -.-

I agree with Cage, school is all about "learning how to learn."

The concept of school is fine. It is just that, with the current system, half of it is pointless, half of the students don't care, half of the teachers don't care, it can be done in half the time, and you forget half of it.
