I think Johnny does lap dances for Georgie... that's the secret of their long lasting relationship. Howard even gets invited to rendezvous at Camp David.

Wow. You could just say he's ugly. I doubt you'd really be happy with any leader we had. How do you like Paul Martin?

Marijuana Party actually has some really good platforms. Their main one doesn't really matter... since no one cares about pot up here anyway.
Jack Layton's a douche and the NDP are a communist party.

Actually, come to think of it, we had the same problem in Australia with loads of obscure parties filling up the option boxes on the federal voting ballot. I think new laws have been introduced here outlining more stringent requirements for groups seeking to become recognised political parties.

dude the ndp are not communist...what about their name New Democratic Party makes you think that they are communist. And i don't care about what other people have told you or told your mother or told your father, if anything they are socialist but that is different from communist. From www.m-w.comCommunism Etymology: French communisme, from commun common 1 a : a theory advocating elimination of private property b : a system in which goods are owned in common and are available to all as needed 2 capitalized a : a doctrine based on revolutionary Marxian socialism and Marxism-Leninism that was the official ideology of the U.S.S.R. b : a totalitarian system of government in which a single authoritarian party controls state-owned means of production c : a final stage of society in Marxist theory in which the state has withered away and economic goods are distributed equitably d : communist systems collectively Socialism Function: noun 1 : any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods 2 a : a system of society or group living in which there is no private property b : a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state 3 : a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done p.s. on paper communism works just as well as capitalism, i think its just that the countries that adopted communist governments messed it up. like russia

Yes and like Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic). I come from a line of proud defectors from communist Czech. All of those family members who escaped are now successful capitalists in the USA. So, I'm not an advocate of communism but I believe the best mix is a capitalist society tempered with socialist programs especially in areas such as health, education and transport.
Capitalism can be a great vehicle of success for some like my family but also it can also provide for poverty traps and marginalisation of the many who weren't as successful in their quest for the american dream. Each generation needs to be equipped to take their country that further step onwards. We need to protect citizens rights to a good level of education that qualifies them for jobs above minimum wage and access to good medical if needed. I'm an advocate of Australia's medicare which is a national health scheme.
Here in Sydney, if you need to see a GP, you will be 'bulk billed' and the government picks up the tab. Everyone gets that. Most people pay the full prescription prices but there are schemes to protect the poorest with the most basic essential medicines appearing on a pharmaceutical benefits list. This ensures a pensioner, for example will not have to pay more than about $4 for that sort of drug. It's not a long list but it protects them.
We do have private health funds also. But at the moment we seem to have the best of both worlds here in Australia, with socialised medicine but options to go free enterprise if you have the means. Private health funds are the best of course.
