I'll start you off with an easy one:
1. What's my number?
I am a three digit number.
My tens digit is five more than my ones digit.
My hundreds digit is eight less than my tens digit.
What number am I?
A bit more difficult:
2. There are 2 ducks in front of 2 other ducks.
There are 2 ducks behind 2 other ducks.
There are 2 ducks beside 2 other ducks.
How many ducks are there?
You may need to think about this one..
3. A man was found murdered one Sunday morning.
His wife immediately called the police.
The police questioned the wife and staff and was given these alibis:
The Wife said she was in bed reading a book.
The Cook claimed she cooking breakfast.
The Gardener claimed he was planting seeds.
The Maid claimed she was getting the mail.
The Butler claimed he polishing the silver.
The police instantly arrested the murdered. Who did it and how did they know (assume there are no other suspects)?
This one's pretty tough
4. A man was wanted for murder in Alaska. The man he allegedly killed was hung by a noose, and was found dead in a warm shed with a puddle of water on the floor beneath him. The police assumed the assumed murderer forceably hung the man and then removed the evidence from the room. However, the suspect knows this to be false. What really happened?
If you get these without google, I'm impressed:
5. The maker does not want it. The buyer will not use it. The user cannot see it. What is it?
6. There are two rooms, both at a relatively cool temperature. There are three switches in one room and three lightbulbs in the other. It's impossible to see either room from the other. Assume each switch turns one lightbulb on. Assume also that you start in the switches room, and when you leave it the door shuts and locks behind you. How can you figure out which switch goes to which light?
7. A lady before going to bed read a book for a while. After reading her book she turned out the light and went to bed. When she woke up in the morning she read the paper. In the paper she read about a ship that had sunk and all passengers died. Though she didn't know anyone on the ship she commited suicide that day out of grief. Why?
8. Can you read this? Yy u r Yy u b I c u Yy 4 me
9. What English word is nine letters long, and can remain an English word at each step as you remove one letter at a time, right down to a single letter. List the letter you remove each time and the words that result at each step.
10. Continue this series: o t t f f s s _ _ _
11. A man had twelve toothpicks in front of him. He took one away. Now he has nine in front of him. How is this possible?
12. A farmer was going to town with a fox, a goose and a sack of corn. When he came to a stream, he had to cross in a tiny boat, and could only take across one thing at a time. However, if he left the fox alone with the goose, the fox would eat the goose, and if he left the goose alone with the corn, the goose would eat the corn. How does he get them all safely over the stream?
13. Are you good at math? Complete the last two in this sequence: 1=3, 2=3, 3=5, 4=4, 5=4, 6=3, 7=5, 8=5, 9=4, 10=3, 11=?, 12=?
This should keep you occupied for a while.
